DISCOVER MORE OF TIROL

Lying at the heart of the Austrian Tirol, Innsbruck airport is a gateway to some of the finest skiing on earth, much of which lies only an hour or so away by road.

This unique location means skiers from the UK can arrive and be skiing the same day in a choice of resorts throughout the Tirol. Perfect for a weekend or short break, although most of the resorts have ski areas of a size that will demand you stay longer, or just return more often!

In fact, you don’t even need to leave Innsbruck in order to access some world class skiing. There are few cities where you are as likely to see someone getting on a bus with a pair of skis as walking the dog, or where bikes with ski racks are very much the norm. Innsbruck is a ski resort in it’s own right, with a cable car running from right within the city to 2000m at the famous Nordkette.

Venture a little further, and within an hour you have a choice of some of the world’s most famous ski areas, St Anton am Arlberg and SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental. Both offer huge ski areas, modern lift systems and a large variety of accommodations options from cosy pensions to luxury hotels. Also within easy reach, Ischgl offer snow sure skiing with a season stretching from the end of November to early May. Oh so pretty St. Johann in Tirol is perfect for families whilst the Zillertal region can offer the opportunity to ski any day of the year on the Hintertux Glacier. And just 45 minutes from Innsbruck, the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau region offers a wealth of winter activities for all.

Though Innsbruck airports offers car hire from all the major rental brands, in most resorts you won’t need a car, so an easier option is to take a transfer, and Four Seasons Travel can meet you at the airport and deliver you safely to your chosen destination. Ski Club members save 10% on all transfers with Four Seasons, just use the discount information here.

Those short distances between resorts and Innsbruck Airport make the return journey home similarly straightforward, no need for early starts to allow for a multiple hour transfer. Once at the airport, you can relax in the Tirol lounge, a full business lounge beyond passport control where guests can enjoy a selection of food and drink whilst relaxing on the comfy seating and taking in the last views of the surrounding Tirolean mountains before boarding the short flight home. Ski Club members can access the lounge with 15% off normal admission, just show your membership card at the desk! Click here.
