As the final hurdles facing the clarification of the Ski Club’s Reps service are cleared, it’s time to look ahead to a promising winter for our trusty Reps. Covid-19 permitting, Reps will be skiing with Members in our 17 key resorts across the Alps as well as in resorts across the world as Freshtracks hosts, helping them to navigate new destinations, discover fresh treasures in familiar places, and simply enjoy fun, social skiing.

Thanks to Covid-19, the Ski Club has improved its virtual presence with Reps and Members. Eager to retain contact with the skiing community, the Club hosted a series of engaging virtual seminars, interviews and fitness classes through lockdown, going on to host a virtual end of season debrief conference for Reps in the spring.

Frankie Doherty, Senior On-Snow Services Executive, explains: “Thanks to Zoom, we’ve been able to hold meetings with all our key resorts over the summer. It’s opened doors, strengthened partnerships and is enabling us to keep up to date with all resort developments.”

Each of the 320 Reps due to attend training this winter will take part in one of three interactive Zoom presentations in addition to subsequent sessions tailored to resort Reps and Freshtracks Reps. Integral to the training course this winter are segments on Covid-19 precautions and group management, the latter presented by the Ski Club’s Alpine Safety Advisor, Bruce Goodlad.

During this training period, Reps will learn the logistical details associated with generating social ski programmes, hosting daily social hours and contacting Members ahead of their holiday, in addition to receiving advice on how to balance the needs of diverse groups; how to nurture local resort contacts to keep abreast of news and developments; and how best to work with local ski schools while accompanying Instructor-led Guiding days.

For Members, this thorough training will translate into the best possible social skiing service and peace of mind on the slopes.

The improved service includes the option to form independent social skiing groups and pre-register interest in joining a group of Members. Not only can you find detailed information about a resort you’re interested in visiting on the Ski Club website, you can now also find a profile of the Rep due to be there during your visit and make contact.
